The Sydney Film Festival (SFF) is one of the longest running events of its kind in the world. Each year, the Festival brings the best new local and international films to Sydney audiences. As well as showcasing feature films from over 60 countries, SFF presents shorts, Australian films, documentaries and archival titles. The Festival hosts a number of awards to recognize excellence in filmmaking, including the Official Competition, the Dendy Awards for Australian Short Films (which are Oscar eligible) and the Documentary Australia Foundation Documentary Award .

The Sydney Film Festival, now entering its 68th year, runs from June 8-19, 2022 at locations in Sydney CBD, Cremorne, Randwick and Inner West. The Traveling Film Festival (TFF) operates year-round, taking weekend festivals to venues across NSW, Queensland and the Northern Territory.


The Marketing team is responsible for the successful promotion of all aspects of the Festival, including films, program streams and non-film events. He has primary responsibility for achieving sales and attendance targets and manages all publicity, publicity, promotion and ticketing activities for SFF, TFF and related corporate areas, including development and philanthropy.

We are looking for a Digital Marketing Coordinator to expand digital engagement with SFF. You will use your exceptional writing and digital skills to manage the daily social media calendar, execute social media campaigns and create, send and follow up on Festival eNews, under the guidance of the Digital Marketing Manager. We are looking for an ambitious, analytical and results-oriented individual who is happy to work in a highly collaborative team and implement digital marketing campaigns.

Daily duties range from overseeing social media engagement and responding to client inquiries, to data entry and liaising with marketing professionals, web and social media agencies, design agencies and production partners.

The successful candidate will enjoy working in a busy environment and be able to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously. This is a pressurized and urgent role that requires a full range of digital and editorial skills, the ability to liaise with SFF partners and coordinate material within SFF.


  • Visit the Google Analytics dashboard to generate daily reports on key data and statistics
  • In consultation with the Director of Digital Marketing, execute a digital marketing strategy for social media
  • Report and analyze online marketing campaigns, including organic and paid search, email, affiliates, display and social media
  • Use data to gain insights into website performance and provide insights on how to increase our audience size and engagement with our audience
  • Write and create content for social media, including video and image content if required
  • Manage multiple marketing interns who will assist with social and digital channels



  • 3+ years of experience with social media in a business to create/promote and manage campaigns
  • Demonstrable experience in managing customer communications via social media channels
  • Proven ability to work in a high pressure environment with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Good understanding of multi-channel content environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have advanced written and spoken English skills and be able to adapt writing to SFF’s tone of voice as well as the ability to proofread and edit copy
  • A flexible attitude towards working hours, especially around the launch and the period of the Festival


  • Relevant qualifications in communications, marketing journalism or similar discipline.
  • An interest in film and the film industry
  • Previous experience working in arts events or a cultural organization.
  • Experience with WordPress and Mailchimp
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, etc.)
  • A good working knowledge of Sydney, with reference to arts organizations and online audiences
