Junior Graphic Designer – Pedestrian Jobs

We bring together the consumer-driven fun of major blockbusters and the high culture of foreign films and festival campaigns within Dendy Cinemas. We also work within the framework of the innovative, large and international catalog of films that make up Icon Film Distribution.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Junior Graphic Designer to join our close-knit, full-time in-house creative team. The in-house team delivers quality creative content across multiple platforms daily. We occupy a unique place in the industry in which we have plenty of room for innovation and ideas, and the potential to operate from concept to completion. We encompass creating key art, point of sale graphics, packaging, promotions as well as editing video content for trailers, commercials and social media.

We design all kinds of awesome content to support the release of movies in Australia and New Zealand. We are a very active in-house studio cultivating all creative work for Dendy Cinemas and Icon Film Distribution, specializing in campaigns for film releases – both in theaters and at home.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Develop original creative executions for various cinema-focused campaigns.
  • Create a range of print, screen printed and web based marketing materials from the original design and/or supplied assets.
  • Ensure artwork is provided to a high standard, with attention to detail and using the correct technical requirements as described.
  • Manage individual priorities and workflow and communicate with Creative Services Manager.
  • Maintain an orderly filing system for work in progress and for completed work in the face of tight deadlines when they arise.
  • Perform ad hoc design tasks.
  • Keep an accurate and detailed log of time worked on all projects.
  • Stay up to date with technical skills and developments to maintain a high standard in the industry and develop your creative talents through the work we offer.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders in a responsive manner and accept responsibility for checking their work against printer guidelines.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Graduate degrees in design/visual communication and 2+ years of relevant agency/studio or in-house full-time or contract experience.
  • Understanding of typography, color theory, file types and layout. Digital and print design skills are required. Proficiency in Mac work and knowledge of art production/prepress are also essential.
  • Effective skills in Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat and Premiere Pro. (After Effects, Audio Mixing and all HTML/CSS skills are highly appreciated, but not essential to start the role).
  • Responds well to collaborative and responsive feedback from creative departments and stakeholders.
  • The ability to thrive under pressure when it arises and to be able to communicate effectively and positively with the team.
  • A love of film and cinema, puns and enjoys a social yet collaborative hard working atmosphere located in Sydney’s central west.
  • Permanent Australian residency/citizenship.
