McCann Worldgroup has announced the appointment of Nike veteran Alex Lopez as President and Chief Creative Officer (CCO) effective November 1.
Lopez holds the most senior creative position at McCann following the departure of ad agency veteran Rob Reilly earlier this year.
Media reports say the appointment is part of an effort to help clients rethink their broader marketing strategy rather than focusing on the traditional creative process.
Lopez has spent more than two decades at Nike. His last role within the brand was Global Vice President of Brand Marketing and Global Creative Director of Men.
Bill Kolb, President and CEO of McCann Worldgroup, said: “Lopez will help clients think more broadly about how creativity can support their larger business functions. “
Suzanne Powers, President and Director of Global Strategy at McCann Worldgroup, said: “Over the past two years the world has changed dramatically. We are already playing in the full marketing ecosystem. It goes beyond that. What are some good ways that customers can build deep relationships with voters and future consumers, how are they doing in the market and what are they creating? “
