Westpac is bringing its new and improved mobile app to Android customers, as the pandemic continues to accelerate the adoption of digital banking services.

The new app makes it easier, faster and more secure for customers to manage their money, with simpler search and navigation tools, enhanced security, personalized banking services and a more intuitive design.

Over 800,000 customers with mobile devices running Android 10+ will be upgraded to Westpac’s award-winning banking app over the next few weeks following a successful trial with over 20,000 customers.

Rollout to Android customers follows the app’s introduction to 1.7 million iPhone customers earlier in the year, with a 15% increase in the number of customers using mobile only for digital banking services .

“Mobile has become the channel of choice for customers, with over 84% of digital banking services for consumers and businesses taking place on a smartphone or tablet,” said Chris de Bruin, Managing Director of Westpac Consumer & Business Banking.

“We wanted to create an app where we put the customer in control and give them on-demand access to their finances, wherever and whenever they want.

“It’s great that we can now bring this better banking experience to even more of our customers with the latest Android deployment. Since the launch of the new iPhone app, we’ve seen strong adoption with 700,000 daily users and over 90,000 customers using our smart search feature every week, ”said de Bruin.

Westpac has also included a range of features to further enhance digital security when using the new app.

“Westpac offers customers an industry-leading digital card security feature with our dynamic CVC that issues a new temporary code every 24 hours through the app to help protect customers from fraud while shopping online. .

“Since launching the app, we’ve seen a 178% increase in digital map usage, and customers have viewed Dynamic CVC over 400,000 times per month.

“Today’s announcement is the next step in our digital banking strategy, which continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of our customers. We will continue to create digital solutions to make banking easier, faster and even more secure, ”said Mr. de Bruin.

  • Savings goals: It’s now easier for customers to track their savings goals in the app with a new visual progress tracker, as well as set up recurring transfers and share savings goals with a joint account holder.
  • Easy registration: customers can download the app with safe and secure electronic verification, open a new savings and transaction account and configure your digital card in the app.
